Oliver Hurst MSc MCIEH - Director & Founder of HSC
With over 14 years of experience, Oliver Hurst has built a reputation for ensuring businesses serve food safely and remain compliant. In 2019, he co-founded Hygiene Safety Consultants Ltd with his father, Marc, providing expert auditing, training, and compliance support across the UK, Europe, and the Middle East. Oliver has contributed to high-profile events such as the FIFA World Cup, The Open Championship, and Formula 1, but his standout achievement was overseeing food safety at Soundstorm24 in Saudi Arabia, managing over 160 caterers at one of the region’s largest festivals. A Chartered Environmental Health professional with an MSc in Environmental Health, he is a published author and a trusted expert in HACCP, ISO standards, and fire safety. When he’s not advising businesses or drafting reports, Oliver enjoys playing golf, travelling and exploring the countryside. You’ll also find him tending to his vegetable patch or smoking meats on his Traeger. |
Matthew Anderson MCIEH, MIIIRSM - Director of Vizion 21 Ltd
With over 44 years in the industry, Matthew Anderson has dedicated his career to helping businesses stay safe and compliant. After starting as an Environmental Health Officer in local government, he founded Vizion 21 Ltd, providing expert consultancy across all sectors in the UK and internationally. Matthew has been at the heart of food safety for world-class sporting events, managing food safety at Wimbledon Championships for 25 years, auditing Qatar World Cup 2022 hospitality, and advising on the London 2012 Olympics and Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022. He also works with global facilities management companies, develops safety procedures, and helps businesses achieve industry standards like SALSA and BRC. Beyond his work, Matthew enjoys playing tennis and unwinding in his garden with a glass of tequila, surrounded by homegrown vegetables and salads. |

Stewart Petrie FCIEH, FBEHOA, FCHAMATA
- Environmental Public Health Consultant With qualifications from Oxford, Huddersfield, and Leeds Beckett University, Stewart Petrie brings a wealth of expertise in Environmental Health, Acoustics and Noise Control, Research Methodology, and HR. Now in his fifth decade in Environmental Health, he has spent over 25 years in consultancy, working across five continents and more than 40 countries. Stewart has advised national, regional, and local governments on a wide range of issues, including food safety, water quality, housing, anti-social behaviour, nuisance, and pollution control. He also served as Director of Environmental Health for Jersey for five years, bringing leadership and strategic oversight to the island’s public health initiatives. He has spoken at international conferences, served on a WHO advisory committee, and was a Founding Trustee of Water for Kids. Outside of work, Stewart is a School Governor and Chairs a Housing Association, but his greatest joy comes from spending time with his two granddaughters. To unwind, he enjoys reading, cooking, and visiting Staithes - especially the Cod and Lobster. |

Barrie Trevena MPhil, CFCIEH, HonMFPH, FRSPH, MIFST
- Director of Kernow Enviro-Wise Ltd With 27 years in local government and over 20 years as an independent Environmental Health Practitioner (EHP), Barrie Trevena has extensive experience on both sides of the fence. A Chartered EHP and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, he holds the Mentor & Auditor grade within the Institute of Food Science and Technology. Barrie is an expert in the transmission of STEC O157 (Shiga Toxin-producing Escherichia Coli), a field he became passionate about after his daughter contracted the bacteria from farm animal contact, leading to kidney failure. His research has been published in several papers, and in 1999, Barrie was awarded a Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowship. He has also supported food safety at major international sporting events in locations like Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Qatar. When he’s not advising businesses or working on food safety, Barrie enjoys playing music. A dedicated brass band cornet player since the age of 10, he now plays cornet and trumpet in the Royal Navy Volunteer Band at RNAS Culdrose. |
